CARL JORDAN, Chairperson

Carl Jordan is the Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for U.S. Bank, managing 97 branch offices in the Southern California market. Carl has been in the banking industry for 38 years, including 25 years with U.S. Bank. He has served in various roles that include, branch management, small business banking, district management and regional management of the U.S. Bank Southern California Metropolitan Market. Carl attended Long Beach State University and in 2008 graduated CBA’s Graduate School of Retail Bank Management at Furman University in South Carolina. Carl is the National Management Advisor for the U.S. Bank Business Resource Group, focusing on our LGBT community and employees. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, Greater Los Angeles (CA). He has traveled to Bangladesh and Viet Nam on International Builds for Habitat for Humanity. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Discovery Science Cube, Santa Ana CA, supporting their mission to inspire and educate youth through science based programs, such as STEM Proficiency.

DAVID BEARD, Treasurer

David is Vice President, Corporate Counsel of HSF Affiliates LLC, a franchisor of several leading real estate brokerage brands. Prior to working at HSF, he was an attorney with the law firm of Snell & Wilmer. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Arizona State University College of Law and a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law. David joined the LGBT Center OC’s board of directors in 2014.


Irene Sarber is a Human Resources executive with experience in the design and execution of HR and corporate strategy.  She brings over 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector, contributing currently at First American Title Insurance Co. in Santa Ana, and previously at CO-OP Financial Services and SCE Federal Credit Union. She also served on the Board of the Center for Financial Empowerment, a 501c3 bringing interactive financial education to underbanked youth and families in Los Angeles County.


Gordon H. Busenbark has over 30 years of global experience in the life sciences industry, including experience with companies involved in biologics, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He worked for Baxter Healthcare for 23 years, in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in finance and accounting, operations and general management. His experience at Baxter included seven years working in Europe, where he was CFO of Immuno AG in Vienna, Austria, when Immuno was acquired by Baxter. He was also President of Baxter’s global Plasma Therapuetics business for five years. More recently, he has been the CFO of four smaller life science companies – Encysive Pharmaceuticals, Xytis Pharmaceuticals and Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals. Gordon is currently the CFO at Cianna Medical, a privately-held medical device company focused on breast cancer therapies. He has both a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Utah. Gordon is the proud father of an adult son, Andrew,  and daughter, Megan. Gordon and his partner Alfonso Martinez, live in Signal Hill.


Rafael Z. Bustos is an Assistant Vice President and Premier Banker for Wells Fargo Bank, NA.  Rafael has been in the banking services industry for almost 20 years, including 14 years with Wells Fargo Bank.  He has served in various roles in the Retail Banking Group, including Branch Manager for 7 years managing several branches in the Orange County area. Rafael is currently the Vice President of Wells Fargo Volunteers for the Orange County Chapter, as well as a Board Member for Wells Fargo PRIDE LA/OC Team Member Resource Group.  Rafael is very active and involved in the LGBT Community and he has been a key player in bringing support from The Wells Fargo Foundation to Orange County and Long Beach Pride events. Rafael currently sits on the Board of Directors for Advance! A Non Profit Organization in La Habra where he also resides with his partner of 19 years, Jeremy.  Together they enjoy traveling, the arts, photography, modernism, theater, live concerts and spending time with their two nephews and nice.  Giving back to the communities where they live and serve is very important and dear to their hearts.  Rafael joined the LGBT Center OC’s Board of Directors in 2016.


Phillip is Director of Story Development, Operations for Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
Phillip’s career in production began over 21 years ago in the advertising world where he worked with such companies as Aardman, Blue Sky Films, WildBrain and The Mill. He took a brief hiatus to help start a non-profit cancer research organization but returned to production working on the animated film “Barnyard”. From there he went to Sony PlayStation where he worked on marketing materials for the launch of the PS3 as well as several of its initial game releases including the producing of the pre-rendered cinematics for “Lair”. Phillip joined the LGBT Center OC’s board of directors in 2013.


Mr. Ihrke is a Partner in the Government & Regulatory Law Section of Rutan & Tucker, LLP. His practice emphasis includes city attorney and municipal finance issues, land use and entitlement, developing and financing affordable and market rate housing and mixed-use projects, and matters relating to economic development, infrastructure investment, and past-redevelopment public-private partnerships. Mr. Ihrke currently serves as the City Attorney for La Quinta and served as the Assistant City Attorney for the Cities of Yorba Linda and Duarte; counsel to the successor agencies to the former redevelopment agencies of Adelanto, Twentynine Palms, Yorba Linda and Duarte; and General Counsel for the Irvine Community Land Trust, a California nonprofit corporation specializing in affordable housing established by the City of Irvine. Along with working at Rutan & Tucker, LLP, Mr. Ihrke served as a Staff Attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, where he advised appellate judges on cases involving Constitutional and federal regulatory requirements, among other matters. In December 2012, Mr. Ihrke was named to the Daily Journal’s Top 25 Municipal Lawyers list.


Dr. Keller is a family physician with the Kaiser Permanente network. He has served as the Acting Chief as well as Assistant Chief of his department of 100+ physicians, and as an elected member of the board of directors for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. Brian graduated from UC Riverside and the UCLA medical school. Dr. Keller joined the LGBT Center OC’s board of directors in 2009.


Pearl is a retired Registered Nurse who worked at UCI Medical Center for 20 years in Intensive Care, Infectious Diseases and as an AIDS Coordinator. She has been actively involved in volunteer work for many years. She was one of the founding members of the AIDS Services Foundation, Founding Co-Chair of AIDS Walk OC. , chaired the HIV Planning /Advisory Council and was co-chair of LIFE lobby. She has been an advocate for Gay rights and HIV/AIDS issues for the past 30 plus years.


Amy Walzer is a Vice President and Project Manager with U.S. Bank, supporting the local Southern California market, as well as nationwide corporate initiatives and strategies. She has been in banking for 30 years, with roles including branch, technology, and strategic management. Amy attended California State University, Long Beach and majored in Human Development. She’s also certified in Human Performance Improvement (HPI), as well as a Gallup Strengths Coach. Amy joined the LGBT Center OC’s Board of Directors in 2017.


Meagan Cooper is the Director of Global University Recruitment for Western Digital. Meagan is responsible for strategy development and diagnosis of talent acquisition needs. She creates, designs and develops programs to address talent gaps and aligns talent needs with business objectives.  By partnering with the senior leadership team and human resource leaders, Meagan determines innovative strategies to recruit top talent from key universities globally. Meagan’s goal is to build, manage and inspire a world-class, high-performing global University Recruitment team, and one that can effectively scale for the future.  In addition to this, Meagan also leads Western Digital’s LGBTQ Employee Resource Group, We.EQL. Meagan graduated magna cum laude from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and received a Certificate in Human Resources Management from UCI.  She currently serves on both the Providence College School of Business Advisory Council and the UCI Career Pathways Employer Advisory Board.


Rich Raynes is the Chief Administrative Officer for Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) in Orange County. In his role as Chief Administrative Officer, Rich oversees all SCPMG’s operations within Orange County. Prior to his current role, Rich was the Assistant Medical Group Administrator for Surgical and Medical Specialties since 2007 in San Diego. Rich began his Kaiser Permanente career in 1991, and has managed primary care and surgical departments. Prior to his Kaiser Permanente career, Rich served as a paramedic for Sacramento County for 8 years. Rich also has been involved with the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, LGBT Organization and Meals on Wheels. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis and his Master of Public Health, Health Service Administration from San Diego State University.


Gavin is currently working at California State University, Fullerton for the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. In his role, he helps support the everyday operations of the second-largest division at CSUF, which oversees many important departments such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Outreach and Recruitment, and the Diversity Resource Centers. Prior to his current role, Gavin attended UCLA and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Sociology, summa cum laude. He has extensive experience working alongside young adults, having worked as a writing tutor throughout his four years of college and currently serving as a co-facilitator for the Prism Youth Group at the LGBT Center OC. Gavin’s interests lie in working with college-aged individuals on their personal, academic, and career endeavors, especially transfer students, recent college graduates who are transitioning into the workforce, and individuals who belong to marginalized communities.


Thomas Fitzpatrick is currently the Territory Sales Manager for OmniCable, a National master distributer of industrial wire & cables, covering the Orange County, Inland Empire and San Diego areas. OmniCable is an ESOP company whom Thomas has been with since 2010. Thomas is originally from Philadephia, PA where he graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a bachelors degree in Sociology and a minor in business. Thomas was a member of the men’s crew team and participated in several LGBTQ programs and volunteer opportunities. Thomas also graduated from St. Joseph’s Preparatory school in Philadelphia, and was a member of the men’s nationally ranked crew team. Currently Thomas holds the position of Events Committee Chair for the LGBT Center OC, where he faculties a group of volunteers who work together to produce the Center’s events and fundraisers throughout the year such as Indigo Ball and Spooktacular.
